Four Seasons of Hope

Four Seasons of Hope started with the heartwarming story of Emmanuel, a five-year-old boy who received his first pair of new shoes from Stephen’s Backpacks Society in August 2008. Emmanuel was so excited about his new shoes that he kept them under his pillow to keep them safe. Later, when Emmanuel and his family found an apartment, but had no furniture, Stephen’s Backpacks Society sprang into action. With the help of sponsors and volunteers, they transformed the empty apartment into a beautiful home just before Christmas.

The  pictures below show the result of our efforts; each room in this home being furnished with great care and attention to detail. The living room features a Christmas tree, sofas, a coffee table and a television displaying a fireplace to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The dining area was equipped with a marble-top table and upholstered chairs, adjacent to a well-furnished kitchen. The bedrooms were thoughtfully set up, one featuring both an adult bed and an infant crib, and another with bunk beds and children’s bedding. This transformation not only provided essential items but also brought joy and a sense of stability to Emmanuel and his family.

Stephen’s Backpacks Society has now furnished over 40 homes, paying close attention to personalized details such as favorite colors, superheroes and interests. Each home is set up with everything from bedroom furnishings to kitchen appliances, ensuring that families have everything they need to start anew. This initiative typically involves 25 to 30 volunteers for each home, making it a wonderful team-building experience for corporate groups. It is a testament to the power of community support.

Emmanuel's Home

“Every child should have their own home with grass to run on, their own bed to sleep in and lots of toys.”
